Community project puts local attraction back on track

01st Dec 2011
Brooks Farm Refurbishment Project

The McGrath Group’s contribution to a Community Project organised by construction firm Lend Lease has helped to restore a local visitor attraction from zero income to near self-sufficiency. The Hackney-based waste management company contributed 4 skips and a grab lorry to collect waste from a refurbishment programme to renovate Brook’s Farm in Leyton. The semi-working farm is staffed by volunteers and provides amenities and educational facilities to the local community.

All of the contributions and work was provided on a free-of-charge, volunteer-basis and helped to transform the Farm by refurbishing its classroom premises with a new open plan kitchen style and installing a new portacabin office. The Farm’s new look was unveiled at a Grand Re-Opening “Fun Day” in October 2011.

“We were very grateful for McGrath’s support for this Community Project”, commented, Katrina Lamberton, Lend Lease’s Governance Manager, “Practical assistance from within our supply chain is so important to the success of local sustainability initiatives such as and helps us put something back into the communities we serve.”

McGrath supplies Lend Lease with a comprehensive range of waste management solutions for a number of construction projects in the capital.
