Barking
By continuing with our fundamental aim to minimise the impact of waste on the environment, The McGrath Group has found a solution to minimise their carbon footprint at the same time...
The most valuable features of the Barking facility are its two wharfs, which can accommodate a 100m vessel 3m deep. Ideally situated for the long term development of the Thames Gateway region, the station in Barking shows how sophisticated McGrath’s model for waste management has become.
High volumes of contaminated soil and other material can now be transported by water, relieving the roads of vast numbers of trucks. Each shipload replaces an average of 140 lorry journeys. Not only are we reducing our carbon footprint we are also helping to reduce the congestion on London roads, which is something we have been working on with WRAP who believe in making better use of resources and helping to tackle climate change.
We are licensed by the Department of Transport to have both inbound and outbound shipments through the Thames Gateway into our wharfs on the Barking creek.
We can also claim to have the first wharfs in the Thames Gateway to be licensed by the Environment Agency to transport hazardous waste to treatment works and landfills across the country.
At McGrath we now feel we have the sufficient capacity and facilities to support the Olympic dream and the Thames Gateway aspiration to be carbon neutral and deliver 50% of the required material by Rail or Water.
All of our services are available through our wharfs. Whether you would like our help with your waste disposal or a large amount of aggregate material, please contact our Sales Team to discuss your requirements.
