Glass
Typical items we accept:
Glass bottles
Jars
Flat glass
Background info:
Glass can be recycled back into containers, glass wool or recycled aggregate for use in sustainable construction.
According to WRAP the UK currently recycles around 50% of container glass (like bottles and jars), however there is still a lot of work to do as the commercial sector (predominantly bars, restaurants and pubs) currently throw away 600,000 tonnes of glass every year, with much of it ending up in landfill.
McGrath Glass Recycling Solutions:
Either separated for large volumes or as a mixed recycling stream we provide a comprehensive and responsive collection service and would typically provide one or more of the following containers/systems on-site: Internal recycling containers, wheeled containers, enclosed/open skips.
How it is recycled:
Glass is sorted at our Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) where it is separated from other recyclables to be re-processed into sustainable aggregate on-site. We produce a range of recycled products; all are manufactured in line with WRAP's quality protocol and Highway Works Specifications.
Glass will pass through our aggregates recycling facility through a carefully managed process of grading, crushing and washing, prior to final production. Our recycled aggregates, available in all sizes and grades, are ready for a whole host of different construction and civil engineering applications.
