Background info:

Much of the biodegradable waste in the UK is disposed of in landfill sites.  Landfill green waste cannot decompose naturally, it therefore fills up valuable ground space and worse still releases toxic gases such as methane.

McGrath Green Waste Recycling Solutions:

Depending on the volume of green waste generated and the collection frequency required we will specify an appropriate open or locked container, this will typically be an open or enclosed and lockable skip or rolonof container.

How it is recycled:

At our materials recycling facility (MRF) we bulk all green waste collected and deliver to a local composting/Anaeorbic Digestion facility. At the composting facility green waste material is first sorted and graded by size and type to ensure even biodegradation later in the process.

The process, which takes 3-4 months, typically involves shredding feedstock materials, composting, maturing and screening and can either be carried out at centralised sites (either outside or in enclosed vessels) or in-situ using open windrows. Natural enzyme based accelerants are added to promote the composting process and help to produce an even rate of material decomposition.
