Background info:

According to WRAP’s latest research the UK uses over 5 million tonnes of plastic each year. Plastic is a valuable and finite resource and environmentally the optimum use for most plastic is to be recycled – preferably into a product that can be recycled again.

Recycling plastic into end applications that displaces virgin plastics can save on average 2 tonnes of CO2 for every tonne of plastic recycled. There is a wide range of markets for them and increasingly these include full closed loop recycling back into packaging.

McGrath Plastic Recycling Solution:

Either separated or as a mixed recycling stream we provide a comprehensive and responsive collection service and would typically provide one or more of the following containers/systems on-site for containment and bulking: Internal recycling containers, wheeled containers, enclosed skips, balers, compactors.

How it is recycled:

We separate, sort and bale all soft plastics at our Materials Recycling Facility for bulk transport to local recycling centres where the material is ground down and passed through a series of cyclones and water baths to segregate into the different types of plastic.

The end product is either melted down directly and moulded into new shapes or shredded into flakes before being melted down and processed into granules.
